Audit all plastic
packaging formats
Audit all plastic packaging formats against current recycled content and 2030 and 2040 PPWR
thresholds. Prioritise high-volume SKUs and low-complexity polymers (e.g. PET bottles).
Investigate where derogations apply- see Slide 45.
Redesign Packaging
for recyclability
Increase recyclability by using mono-material, choosing water based coatings, avoiding dark
inks or anything metallic. Align design changes with recyclability performance grades. See
slide 23 for more details.
Secure long-term
PCR supply
Establish long-term contracts for PCR supply (rPET, rHDPE, rPP). Work with recyclers to turn
recycled plastic into a reliable, fit-for-purpose material that works for your specific packaging
and meets PPWR recycled content rules.
Implement tracking
systems for PCR
Track recycled content by polymer, packaging component & manufacturing site. Retain
documentation for national EPR reporting & DoC. See Slide 10 for more details.
