Audit packaging against
prevention goals
Identify packaging types that contribute most to total weight & any single-use formats likely to be
restricted.
Implement Packaging
Minimisation (Article 10)
Weight and volume must be reduced to 8no more than necessary9, and features like double walls,
false bottoms, or excessive empty space are prohibited. Redesign packaging to eliminate empty
space & remove unnecessary components (windows, inserts, decorative layers).
Prepare for Single-Use Packaging
Restrictions by 2030
The PPWR bans several unnecessary single-use formats like grouped packaging, HORECA

Integrate Reuse & Refill Solutions
to Meet Prevention Goals
Develop or join reuse systems (logistics, washing, reverse flows) . Test reusable/refillable packaging
